  • December 1777 - June 1778 Winter at Valley Forge
  • 20 miles Northwest of Philadelphia
  • Soldiers worked together to build forts to stay warm. They had good firewood and clean water around them. However, 2,500 soldiers out of 10,000 died due to the lack of food and the cold.

  • They were also low on clothing and uniformity, so Baron von Steuben worked on getting uniforms for the army.
  • Marquis de Lafayette was another great addition to Washington's staff. he engaged with the soldiers directly and taught them to prepare for the revolution.
  • Just a few weeks before leaving, The army allied with the french. the army would move on and display their professionalism and discipline at the battle of Monmouth in June, 1778.
