This was another case of taxation without representation. Some refused to but the stamps. Others attacked tax collectors--even burying one alive.
Lexington and Concord
The Townshend act was named after Charles Townshend, Townshend created this act to raise money. This act raised money by taxing people on imported goods such as paper, paint, lead, glass and tea. This act was also created for people to stop smuggling things from other countries to the colonies.
Word of the “massacre” spreads to every colony showing that the British are willing to kill their own citizens and need to leave Boston.
This was the first battle that lead up to the revolutionary war. This war was against the colonial militia and the redcoats.
