  • The conflict is between the good of the Danes and between Grendel's desire for evil. "No savage assault could quench his lust for evil" (lines 52-53)
  • Theme
  • "The Protagonists are Beowulf and the Danes, while the Antagonists are Grendel and his Mom. I don't know what we are supposed to use as evidence for this.
  • Climax
  • Beowulf fight with Grendel is an example of rising action. "Then he stepped to another still body, clutched at beowulf with his claws." (lines 304-305)
  • The theme is that good triumphs over evil. "He never dared to touch king Hrothgar's glorious throne, protected by god." (Lines 83-4)
  • The climax is Beowulf fight with Grendel's mother underwater. "In an instant she had him down, held helpless" (line 473)
