This storyboard is showing the life of Winston at the beginning of the story. It shows how he is always being watched by Big Brother. He finds a sign in the first square. The sign reads "Big Brother is always watching". He is frightened by the sign and continues down the halls and finds more posters. The poster in the next square reads "War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength". These are the three slogans of the Party. He continues and goes into a room where he finds another TV. The tv is in an odd space, opposite the windows, on the longest wall. He sees a bookshelf full of books and realizes there is an empty book. This is where he discovers his daily writing in the journal. He shares his thoughts and fears of the new society throughout his writing.
