  • Introducing Manuel to the scene.
  • why did I volunteer? I hope it goes well.
  •  Was that ok? It would look like im singing right?
  • It looks ok but it would be cool if you did some dance moves like Micheal Jackson.
  • New character to scene Benny.
  •
  • *pretends to sing La Bamba*
  • In the beginning of the story he walks to school thinking about the talent show. He thinks about what he should do for the talent show and decides to pretend to sing the song, "La Bamba." He has a lot of things going through his mind thinking about how it could bad or good. He wants to inpress his friends and the girls.
  • In the middle of the story Manuel's friend Benny was helping him with suggestions for his talent show. Manuel hopes everything goes ok and is really nervous about his talent show. A few kids perform and some of them had really good ideas and some of them drew laughter from the audience. Manuel was still waiting behind the stage shivering in fear waiting for his tern.
  • At the end of the story it is Manuel's turn to go on stage. He has the mouthed the words great to the song and even added some dance moves. It had been going great until the music shut off and Manuel was just stuck there mouthing to the words. The audience stood up and clapped when Manuel had no choice but to sing La Bamba.
  • Gary Soto was born April 12, 1952. In 1976 he became the first Mexican-American to earn a M.F.A and became a Distinguished Professor. He also became a famous author and continues to write.
