Most people lived in the country and made everything they had like food, clothing, and had no electricity. Cotton was sorted by hand, and everything took a lot of time and patience.
The first wave of the Industrial Revolution started in the late 1700s. People moved from the countryside to the city. Many new ways of travel were created such as automobiles and trains. The lightbulb, the cotton gin and the telephone were invented.
Today we have computers, cell phones, and cars. we would not have any of those things if we as Americans did not use our creativity. We owe all of our advances to the Industrial Revolution.
