Stacy, a 15 year old soccer player, just got home from a game and feels a strange and strong pain in her left calf. she sits down on her bed and examines it, she looks around and feels her leg. she feels her calf and realizes that there is a swollen bump and it feels a bit warm.

Stacy, goes to her mom, and immediately tells her about the swelling and pain on her calf. Her mom questions this and takes a look at her leg. when Stacy and her mom get to the hospital, they speak with the Doctor, who examines her calf. He takes a look at it he notices that the swollen part on her calf has warm skin and feels a bit tender. He takes a moment to think, and begins asking questions. He asks Stacy about the pain. She answers honestly and explains how it feels and when it started to hurt. After many question, The doctor has one more, Does she play any sports? Stacy answers with a yes, she plays soccer, and that's when she realizes what may have caused her leg to hurt.
The doctor told Stacy that she could’ve been hit with the ball at some point while playing and that was what could’ve caused the swelling and pain. However the doctor suspected more than just a hit, because of the warmness and reddish look to it, he was able to identify her issue as Thrombophilia. The doc. told them that it could possibly become more severe and recommend her medication.
After seeing the doc. Stacy and her mom head out to the pharmacy, to pick up the medication that the doctor prescribed. The medication he prescribed was called Warfarin, a med. that'll treat the disease. The doc. told both Stacy and her mom that the medication will interfere with the clotting process and will prevent from another one occurring. Stacy and her mom leave the Pharmacy and head home feeling relieved.
