Ionizing Radiation is radiation with enough energy to remove electrons from and atom.
Non Ionizing radiation is a low energy wave that cannot remove electrons from an atom.
Ionizing waves have a high frequency causing them to have a short wavelength. On the other hand Non Ionizing waves have a low frequency and a long wavelength.
Now that we have all that information we can answer the big question. What really happens when we are exposed to Gamma rays?
What it will really does is mutate DNA and damage cellular mechanisms. In large doses it can cause radiation poisoning.
Hopefully this cleared up the about radiation and Gamma rays!
