  • Summer of 1851- People came from all around to make and sign a treaty with the Dakota. Including Alexander Ramsey, Henry Sibley, and Stephen Riggs.
  • My people want the government to make an offer in writing
  • Alexander Ramsey bargains with goods and money. In exchange for Dakota territory. Since not all the Native American elders were not there they decided not to do anything with the situation until they were all there.
  • He said "Do you..."
  • July 19 1851Alexander Ramsey threatens to stop all negotiations.
  • reservation of ten miles on each side of the Minnesota River
  • July 21st 1851Extended tail feathers tells the council that his people want the government to make an offer in writing
  • Treaty or travers de sioux-Interpreters including Stephen Riggs and many more. Move among the camps translating speech so the treaty could be signed. Henry Sibley and his fellow fur traders are busy trying to convince reluctant Dakota to sign.
  • Come on sign it!
  • The Dakota are going to sign 3 treaties, 2 of them are welly explained and the 3rd was a trick and not right. But the Dakota were suspicious that not all of the resources and money promised was not going to be received.In fact, they are signing a document that says they will pay back the fur traders with debt money.
