Virginia was furious. Someone had stolen the hat. She scanned the mass of people determined to find the hat.
She spotted the tattered green hat. A man on the stage performing tricks was wearing it. A magician had stolen the hat? For some reason, this made Virginia even angrier.
Virginia stormed onto the stage and demanded for the hat back.
The magician extended the hat towards her. She reached for it, but it had disappeared into thin air. The magician was toying with Virginia. As the hat reappeared she reached for it again. Gone. Steam came out of Virginia's ears as the crowd applauded. The hat now sat atop Viriginia's head.
Hey! Give me back my hat back, you thief!
With the hat in hand, Virginia left the Skegness town fair.
Virginia Grey looked at the solid hat in her hands and felt satisfied.
Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Andrew Parker. Andrew had a devilish smile, sharp features, and beautiful eyes.
Andrew gazed with a longing expression painted on his face.
I'm sorry, but I can't love you.
I don’t know how to not love you.
Andrew looked devastated, his wounded eyes betraying him as he tried to conceal his heartbreak. He turned his back, his figure fading as he walked away into the night.
She ran her fingers over suede detailing of the hat in her hands.
