- Elven Star by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
- We finally made it, dog!
- After being stranded in sea for weeks, Haplo and his dog finally found land in the world of Pryan.

- My name is Aleatha and I'm the youngest child!
- My name is Paithan and I'm the middle child!
- Haplo stumbles into the Quindiniar family, the richest Elven family on Pryan, (yes, they are Elves) and they welcome him to their home.
- My name is Caliandra and I'm the oldest child!
- Be careful of humans, I don't trust them
- The family makes their fortune by selling weapons to both Humans and Elves. Caliandra manages the orders of weapons, and Paithan delivers them.
- Will do, sis!
- "Yeah, you got a problem with that, Quinpar?"
- Paithan meets his human clients, Roland and Rega Readleaf in the city of Thillia. They explain to him that they're going to be selling his weapons to the d\Dwarves.
- "You're selling the.... er.... toys to dwarves?"
- "Quindiniar. No, it's just that now I understand how you were able to pay top price" (118)
- The Dwarven Kingdom needed those weapons because the legendary giant looking humans, Tytans, invaded their land. On their journey to the Dwarves, the Tytans have been asking everyone they stumbled on about the citadel, and if they couldn't answer they killed them.
- "Where is the citadel? What must we do?"
- "We have never heard of any citadels, but we will be glad to join you in your search, if you wiil-"(176)
- The Dwarven king tried to reason with them, but that was the last thing that he (and all of his citizens) have said.
- Finally, the Tytans reached the Elves. Even though the Elves are far stronger and a more technologically advanced than their neighbors, they stood no chance against the giants.
- After the Tytans destroyed the Dwarven Kingdom, they continued south until they reach the Humans. Because they too couldn't help them, they killed them aswell.
- Seeing the entire world getting destroyed, Haplo decided to fight the beasts with his powerful magic. Is this the end?
