  • "Goodbye Covey! we shall not meet again".
  • I will write several passes for you,my fellow students.
  • During January 1834, Frederick Douglas left Covey (his slave master) since Covey treated him harshly. Due to this condition Frederick Douglass went to a new slave master who went by a name of Mr.Freeland and he was more tolerable and kinder.
  • "You shall stop looking for freedom. You shall now be arrested."
  • Frederick Douglass wanted his fellow slaves to accompany him on his journey to freedom. He convinced the slaves that he met in the school that he created to join him on this journey to freedom.
  • "No! I am acting as if I am  Patrick Henry and I want liberty or I want death."
  • "Is that so?"
  • Frederick Douglass wrote passes otherwise known as (protections)that would help his students on his journey to freedom. These passes would help conceal the slaves identity.
  • "I do not think I could be free in a city called Baltimore,so I will try to learn the crafts and at least live my life that way.But I will still try to get freedom one way or the other."
  • "I will teach you some crafts so that you do not attempt to be free again."
  • The constables come to Frederick's plantation without Frederick knowing and they tied him. They also took the other slaves in the fields and they tied them all too.During this process it was belief or denial for Frederick Douglass.
  • One slave otherwise known as Henry did not want to be tied and he was Patrick Henry when he boldly resolved upon life or death.
  • In this picture it shows Frederick Douglass when he went to Baltimore and when he meets Mr.Hugh  he does not want to learn crafting so he is still trying to look for freedom one way or the next.
