  • The French built Fort Duquesne. to discourage British colonists from moving into the area.
  • Robert Dinwiddie sent troops to attack the French, led by George Washington
  • There attack was a success
  • French General Louis- Joseph de Montcalm destroyed British forts on Lake Ontario and Lake George. 
  • Since John Wolfe and his men marched out of the attack, Montcalm suffered defeat and later died. 
  • Wolfes men scaled a cliff during the night
  • The British captured Montreal and forced the French to surrender the rest of Canada, including the forts around the Great Lakes
  • The Mississippi River became the boundary between British and Spanish claims in north America
