The main characters are a young girl named Annemarie with a little sister named Kirsty and has a best friend Ellen who is Jewish. They are stopped on the street by a German officer
The rising action is when Ellen is staying with Annemarie because Ellen's parents were also Jewish and wanted her to be safe. German officers came and question them and then left
The continuing rising action is when Annemarie and her family and Ellen go to her uncle's. They are smuggling Jews out and Ellen has to leave. THey bring a coffin inside and act like Annemarie's nonexistent great and dies, so when a German comes in they will not be suspicious
The climax is when Annemarie's parents bring a coffin with clothes in it for Jew's so they can escape warm but a German officers come and see what they are up to. They see the coffin but think a dead person is in it and they leave. Ellen leaves.
Annemarie's uncle is helping Jew's escape on a boat, but he forgets a special napkin that fools dogs scents so Annemarie must take it to him but two officers with dogs stop her. She makes just in time to get her uncle's boat.
Annemarie knows that her friend Ellen is in there and as she watches them sail to Switzerland she know that they will see each other again one day.
