  • The comma comes before the but.

  • Charlie Gordon was a mentally challenged man who wanted to get smarter for himself and for science.  He took special classes and did maze races at a lab against a mouse with increased intelligence named Algernon, but lost.
  • Rising Action/Start of Climax
  • Wow, Charlie! Thank you.
  • Charlie soon decided that with the help of two scientists named Dr. Nemur and Dr. Strauss he would undertake the same operation that the mouse,  Algernon,  had to increase his intelligence. 
  • Climax
  • What's going to happen to me?
  • After Charlie partook in the operation, he started slowly gaining intelligence and understanding the way people looked at him. He started to learn how to use punctuation, spell larger words and even increase his creativity towards different subjects in life
  • Falling Action
  • Mandarin, French...You can't read any of them?!
  • No doc, I guess not 
  • Charlie soon got to the point where he started to know more than the scientists who gave him the operation. He learned many different languages and scientific theories. But soon enough Algernon started to have behavior problems which were not good for Charlie. 
  • ..And those are the problems with your hypothesis.
  • But soon, Algernon died. As this was happening Charlie started to drastically decrease in intelligence. His mood started to change and he just became more of a depressed person. He didn't even talk to people, he just stayed locked up in his room
  • After a few weeks, Charlie started to not be able to read other languages or understand the advanced materials that he once had. Soon enough, his writing started to get worse along with his vocabulary
