Thorin's Story tells about how his grandfather, Thror, and his family were driven from the North. But, he explains how they came back with wealth and riches. Thror was King of the Mountain again. Back at his former, royal state, he was happy. They rewarded everyone richly, no matter how skilless. The dwarves never had to find food because fathers begged for their sons to be apprentices and payed with food. The dragon came because they steal gold and jewels. Dragons couldn't do anything for themselves. Smaug, a most specially greedy, strong, and wicked dragon, was the one that came for their riches. Everyone died except for the ones that were out of the city while it was raided. Dragons sleep on their gold hoards like beds. Smaug would sneak into the village at night to eat maidens, until either everyone was dead or gone. The only ones who escaped were Thror and Thrain. Thorin never knew how until he saw the map that Gandalf showed him.
