The Narrator is drunk and he goes to get his knife to stab out the cats eye. He hates the cat even more with only one eye.
The narrator hung the cat to put it out of its misery because he knew he had loved the cat and the cat had loved him.
Later their was a fire and many people came to watch. They saw the cat hanging and cut it off the tree and threw it in the house. Only one wall remained standing and had a cat shadow on the wall.
The man goes out to drink more wine and beer. He sees a cat that looks like Pluto (the cat). The cat rubbed and loved man so he took the cat home. He later finds out that the cat has only one eye.
The man, his wife, and the cat went down to the basement. The cat was rubbing against the man and tripped him. He got so angry that he picked up an axe and brought it down on the cat. His wife stopped him and he killed her.
The man didn't want anyone to find the body so he took down the bricks that hid the alcove and hid his wife's body there. Later the police came to investigate the house. He got perked up and knocked on the hollow wall. The cat started meowing and toe police took down the bricks. They saw the decayed body and the cat. The cat has his one eye on fire.
