James Madison came up with the first amendement in 1789. amendment one allows the freedom of speech, press, assembly and the right to petition the government.
James Madison also wrote the 5th amendment in 1791. the 5th amendment protects us from having our rights abused by the government. The 5th amendment says we cannot have our life, liberty, or property taken except by due process of law.
James Madison wrote the sixth amendment in 1789. The 6th amendment guarantees the rights of criminal defenants , uncluding the right to a public trial without a delay, the right to a lawyer , the right to an impracticle jury , and the right to know who your acusers are.
