Hello travelers and welcome to Maryland! We are so glad you made it after your long voyage! Allow me to show you around.
Many of the people that live here in Maryland are farmers. Most of the farmers grow cotton, tobacco, rice, sugarcane, and indigo. Farmers have very long growing seasons and only grow what they need to survive. Extra Crops were traded for shoes, laces, and thread.
Just like many other colonies, slavery existed in Maryland. Many travelers became slaves in order to help them start a new life. Slaves and children had to work under brutal conditions and were beaten if they did not finish the task that they were given.
But on the bright side slaves could leave once they've worked for a certain number of years or if they buy their freedom! Because of this slaves were able to start a new life in Maryland!
Once Slaves were set free they had to follow laws just like all the other citizens. Follow me to find out more about Marylands Government!
