Storyboard Text

  • At the beginning of "The Highway Man" the man goes to the Inn to see Bess
  • Repetition- " But the landlords black eyed daughter, Bess, the landlords daughter.
  • They talk about the robbery they are going to do and Tim overhears
  • Simile- " dumb as a dog he listed, and he heard the robber say"
  • Tim wants Bess all to himself so he calls the Red Coats and they capture Bess.
  • Rhyme- " With many a sniggering jest. With the muzzle beneath her breast
  • The repition suggests that Bess is one of the main characters and is landlords daughter.
  • Bess killed herself to warn the Highway Man
  • Repetition- " Then her finer moved in the moonlight. Her musket shattered the moonlight.
  • The simile emphasizes that Tim got everyone into this situation because of his dumbness.
  • The Highway Man runs away then ends up  coming back but gets shot.
  • Rhyme-" shouting a curse to the sky, white the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high".
  • The rhyme suggests that The Red Coats find it funny  that they are keeping her tied up and facing a gun towards her.
  • In the end the Highway Man goes back to place Bess gets killed as a ghost.
  • Metaphor-"when the moon is a ghostly galleon. The highway man come riding up to the old inn door.
  • The repition suggests that its dark and its nighttime.  
  • The rhyme suggests that he was ready to fight them because of when Bess Died.
  • The rhyme suggests that when the moon is white ( a full moon) which makes it look like a ghost just like the The Highway Man,  he comes back to the inn.
