My Story Elizabeth Smart with Chris Stewart By: Karolina Chowaniec
Omg!!!!! She's gone! Call the Cops!
Mommy, Daddy! Elizabeth is gone!
Ok, go around the neighboorhood!
Listen to what I say!
Listen to her!
I wanna go home! Leave me alone!
One night when Elizabeth was sleeping in her room she woke up to a knife to her neck. She wanted to cry and scream at the same time but she couldn't because the man swore he would kill her and her family. She put on her shoes quietly and walked down the stairs. They went through the screen door that he cut out with his knife and then they were gone.
We just want our daughter back!
Leave us alone!
Honey, what do you remember?
What Elizabeth didn't know was that her little sister Mary Katherine went crying to her parents saying that Elizabeth is gone. They went looking for her throughout the house but she was gone. They found the screen door that was ripped open and they called the cops soon after. Everyone including nearby neighbors helped but she was no where to be found.
I don't remember
Soon after he took Elizabeth to their hiding spot she learned his name, David Brian Mitchell. She recognized that name from when he helped with the roof at her house. She thought it was impossible but it really was him. There was another person there and it was an old woman named Wanda. She told her to take off her clothes and wash herself.
I wanna go home! I am useless!
Reporters scrambled all over Elizabeth's house with all kinds of questions, like Did you kidnap her? or Do you know where she is? These questions infuriated her parents but they kept on going and looking for Elizabeth. They said that they will give a $20,000 award for anyone who knows any information on Elizabeth or if someone finds her.
A reporter and a therapist went to check on Mary Elizabeth because she was the one who witnessed Elizabeth being kidnaped. They asked her questions on how the man looked like and where she thinks that he took her. She was only a child so she couldn't remember any of that. She made herself believe that it was her fault that she was kidnaped.
Elizabeth was constantly raped and tortured every day until she was found. She suffered and she felt useless. She tried escaping but there was no way because she was chained. She was forced to wear white clothes so people believed that it was their religion and she had to cover up her face.
