Our family coming from our home country, Russia. We are very excited to finally get the opportunity to live in a free country.
On the ship, it's very crowded. There are many people and we are 3rd class so we don't get good food and we have to stay at the bottom of the ship most of the time.
Below the ship during the night, many people are sick and there are no bathrooms. With everyone down there it gets very hot and very smelly.
As we arrived into America, we can see the famous Statue of Liberty. Everyone on the boat started cheering and everybody's attitudes and spirts were lifted.
Inside Ellis Island we had to go through processing. We had to drop all of our belongings and go through many exams. We went through physical, medical, and personal exams. After our family got processed and cleared, we got to walk down the Great Hall.
Walking dow the Great Hall, we got our bags, train tickets into the city, and our currency exchanged into American dollars. We are so happy to say that our long journey has finally come to an end. We are American citizens.
