  • Hi... I'm Mary... We have science class together, right? What's your name?
  • In the first stanza, the author is giving advice based on her past experiences. She is trying to convey the idea that she was once overwhelmed by shyness and longing, because she chose to isolate herself. She wants something badly, but is too afraid to work for it.
  • In the second stanza, the author describes the surge of power she feels when she realizes her potential. This part of the poem represents how the author is inspired by an opportunity and wants to take action. She finds an opportunity to get what she desires.
  • In the final stanza, the author begins to take advantage of the opportunity and reach beyond her limits. She overcomes the boundary that was holding her back and becomes more confident in herself as a result. She finally gets what she wanted by taking action.
