  • The conflict of Edgar Allen Poe's story "The Tell-Tale Heart" is the eye that vexed the narrator.  This shows the narrator seeing the "evil" eye. 
  • Falling action
  • The narrator explains that he watches the old man continuously each night. This is shown again and again in the story.
  • Main Theme
  •  The climax of The Tell-Tale Heart is when the narrator attacks the old man. This scene shows the narrator attacking the old man. 
  • Imagery
  • The police come and look around for anything suspicious in the house. The narrator then sits them down over the dead body and starts a happy conversation.
  • The main theme is guilt. This can drive people to do extreme things. This shows the narrator hiding the dead man's body which he will later confess about.
  • "Slowly, little by little, I lifted the cloth, until a small, small light escaped from under it to fall upon-to fall that vulture eye!" (TTTH 3). This is an example of imagery.
