  • While the Thirteen Colonies were at war with the United Kingdom, France was sending money to the Thirteen Colonies.
  • Some the greatest Enlightenment thinkers gathered in rich Parisian homes, in rooms called parlors. Doctors, scientists, philosophers, and it gave women a role to play in the French Revolution.
  • The king and the Queen of France lived in comfort, and spent a lot of money on things they did not need.
  • Most of the people of France lived in extreme poverty, and many children were very hungry and had no clothes to wear.
  • To try to help fix the countries economic problems, King Louis XVI called for a group of people representing the Three Estates to gather in the Meeting of the Estates General.
