Storyboard Text

  • "To young Gatz, resting on his oars and looking up at the railed deck, that yacht represented all the beauty and glamour in the world" (Fitzgerald 100).
  • "...I felt an unpleasantness in the air... that hadn't been there before... now I was looking at it again, though  Daisy's eyes." (Fitzgerald  104)
  • "I'm going to fix everything just the way it was before" (Fitzgerald 110).
  • "I wouldn't ask too much of her... you can't repeat the past" (Fitzgerald 110).
  • Gatsby's background is explained; his real name was James Gatsby, and he inherited his money from his rich friend Dan Cody after Cody's death.
  • Gatsby throws another party, attended by Tom, Daisy, and Nick. Daisy seemed to have a good time and danced with Gatsby, but there was a certain tension in the air.
  • After the party, Gatsby seems stressed and tells Nick that Daisy didn't like the party. Gatsby is determined to make everything the same as five years ago, not listening to Nick telling him that he can't repeat the past.
