  • When the Europeans came to Latin America, they forced away native language.
  • When the Portuguese and Spanish conquered Latin America they forced the practice of Roman Catholicism on the Native people. 
  • Europeans brought many diseases with them including, smallpox, measles, malaria, influenza, and many others, killing more people than the black plague due to the fact that they didn't have any immunity to the diseases
  • The Columbian exchange was the name given to trade between the old and new world (Europe and America). Goods were traded but so was disease.  
  • Native people sometimes greeted Europeans warmly and showed them survival skills. They perceived the Europeans as divine or even spiritual.  
  • The Europeans brought technologies, iron tools, guns and weapons. These transformed peoples' lives.
