  • Siddartha rode out one night and saw everything he was being protected from. While on the streets,he saw a man and was shocked because the man was poor, but he was very happy. He realized that the lifestyle he was living was not the way to happiness. So,he ran away, tore his clothes, and put on simple ones.
  • Great enlightenment
  • Siddartha gave up his life as a prince. He lived off the food that other people put in his begging bowl.He slept in the shelter of of either a tree or cave.Siddartha began his search for truth by studying with Hindu gurus. The Guru's taught him that life was an endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Siddartha was not satisfyed with their version of salvation.
  • Siddartha next joined the the religious band of ascetics. While living as an ascetic,he experienced the way of self denial. He barely bathed and never ate.He meditated for long periods of time.He lost so much weight that if he touched his belly,he could feel the backbone of his body. His body turned so weak that he fainted.when he finally woke up he knew that this was not the way of life
  • His search for truth was still on  so,he meditated under a tree for almost 7 weeks. Finally one day,he was confronted by Mara, the god of desire and death. She tempted him,but siddartha refused,in result of Mara getting angry.Siddartha continued to meditate and and reached enlightenment,a state of perfect knowledge.Instead of enjoying his life being free,he chose to go back into the world to teach. His purpose was to awaken the world of its true nature of life.
  • I must know the true way of life
