  • First day at the American school. Teacher says hi to students and introduces me.
  • Randolph High school
  • Hello everyone.
  • Sejin smiled awkwardly.
  • Hi, nice to meet you.
  • Nice to meet you too.
  • Sejin confuses about she doesn’t understand “nese” because of her English is bad or his English is bad.
  • So, what nese are you?
  • Nese...? What is nese?
  • Sejin is upset that Dan confuses her as a common stereotype of an Asian- she is seen as Chinese- an Asian- even though she is from Korea.
  • You know. LIke Chinese or Japanese.
  • What....?
  • Sejin feels it is going to be a long time before she can refute anybody while she is learning English.  She feels that there is no one on her side, and she feels lonely.
