Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Rising action
  • Climax
  • The setting of the story is the distant future with a small family of 4 (George Hadley, Lyndia Hadley, Wendy Hadley, and Peter Hadley). Bradbury describes the opening the way he does to foreshadow the flaw of the nursery. From the very first scene technology comes into play by how everything in the house is shown to be automated even having the house rocking them to sleep .
  • falling action
  • The children in the story become obsessed with the nursery seeing as if the nursery is taking their parents place as their caretakers. The children's relationship toward the nursery is obsessive affecting their mental state when they can’t be around the nursery causing them to threaten their father. The conflict in the story is how the “room”emulates bloodlust from the children inner thoughts. The tech also for their neurotic nature to blossom through reading their brain waves
  • Denouement
  • The kind of threat that is made is to the children with the parents being willing to shut down all the tech in the house especially the nursery. The conflict is that the parents don't like the nursery due to it bringing out the childrens neurotic tendencies
  • Takeaway
  • Towards the climactic scene, the characters show different reactions. The children exhibit absolute distraught and anger, they begin to go crazy after hearing that the room will be permanently closed. Meanwhile, the parents decide to close the room due to the issues that it causes with breaking the family apart and their children being to addicted to the room. Technology comes in as a separating factor families, due to the power it held over the children, causing separating from parent and child.
  • The story ends with the children trapping their parents in the nursery in order to save it. They wanted to get rid of their parents because they chose to close the nursery because of their children being addicted to it. In this case, technology got out of hand because it became a tool to be used against humans, and it became an evil tool instead of a helpful one for humans to use.
  • The message of this story is how technology can get out of hand if it’s not used properly by people. As well, it shows how it can be very useful to humans and can make life very simple but if you rely on it too much, then you forget how to live a life without it. Technology can be a tool that can cause humanity to come closer together and happier, but it can also cause tension and distance between people.
