Storyboard Text

  • Causes Of The Great Depression
  • I lost all of my money!
  • I want my money back now!
  • What am I going to do?
  • Rugged Individualism
  • I wish the government would assist us with our needs!
  • Hoovervilles
  • The 5 causes of The Great Depression are the stock market crash of 1929, bank failures, reduction in purchasing across the board, the economic policy with Europe, and drought conditions. I think the most important one is the stock market crash because it threw everyone into a panic and our economy suffered.
  • The New Deal
  • Rugged Individualism was when during The Great Depression, President Hoover didn't want the government to assist in the people's problems but let other organizations help. He said it would injure the initiative enterprise of the American people.
  • Second Bill Of Rights
  • I have created a second New Deal in hope that it will benefit more than the last one!
  • During The Great Depression shantytowns were created and the people named them "hoovervilles" to blame it on Herbert Hoover. Hoovervilles were mainly made of cardboard and the living conditions there were not good at all. Some Hoovervilles contained a few thousand people and others only a few hundred.
  • Success or Failure?
  • I am very happy with the success of the New Deal!
  • The New Deal was made up of 15 different bills that helped the economy during the depression. It created the FDIC, the Public Works Administration, the Federal Emergency Relief Act, and more! It was all created to help rebound the economy and get our country back on track, a lot of these things didn't work but many of them also helped the country.
  • I have created a way to help solve the problems of The Great Depression! It is called The New Deal!
  •  The second New Deal was pieces of legislation. They introduced Social Security for elders, the National Labor Relations Act, and the Works Progress Act.
  • I think that the New Deal was a success because everything might not have worked but a lot of things improved. The FDIC was created along with many laws we abide by today that have to do with the economy; also the New Deal helped create many new jobs for Americans to get employed again. So overall, the New Deal was a success.
