  • The meeting was called because France was in a financial crisis, there were riots, and people were fearful of taxes. Louis had the three estates list there requests and grievances. The people voted by order so the third estate voted last. The higher estates were fine with not paying taxes but the third estate wasn't. This didn't help they take a step toward democracy because there was still a third estate after everything was done.
  • The March on Versailles
  • "WE WANT BREAD"
  • WE WONT LEAVE TILL WE GET BREAD
  • Go to the guillotine!!

The commander of the Bastille refused to open the gates and they opened fire on the crowed. Many were killed witch caused the people to start a revolution. • The Rise of Napoleon
  • Here you go
  • ITS MINE!!!
  • About six thousand women marched 13 miles in the rain from Paris to Versailles. They shouted "Bread" and demanded to see the king. They directed there anger at Marie Antoinette the queen. They did not leave until they were promised bread so they could feed themselves and there children. This did help there case to go to a democracy because they fought and marched for things they needed.
  • Maximilian Robespierre was a primary leader in the Committee of Public Safety. During The Reign of Terror in 1793-1794 Robespierre would kill anyone who disagreed with him. Spectators greeted death sentences would cry "Hail the Republic". The way the citizens would be executed would be getting their head cut off by a guillotine. This doesn't help form a democracy because people were very scared to speak out and say whats right.
  • In all the chaos politicians turned to Napoleon Bonaparte, he was a hero with a lot of military success. Two years later Napoleon had acquired enough power to assume the title of the Emperor of the French. Some of Napoleons reforms were restore economic prosperity, controlled prices, built roads and canals, and much more. But he also backed off from the revolutions social reforms. He help move toward democracy because he helped improve the citizens quality of life.
