  • December of 1944 the Germans launched their offensive on the waiting Allied forces. They faught until they had created a bulge in the Allied lines, but no break.
  • Hitler knew that defeat was near, but wouldn't be able to take the shame of admitting he couldn't win. On April 30, 1945 Hitler committed suicide.
  • After the Allies received reinforcements, and Hitler's death causing the German morale to decrease the Germans were pushed back into their homeland and surrendered on May 8, 1945.
  • The day the Germans surrendered was called Victory in Europe Day or V-E Day for short. Now the Allies had to take on the Japanese, but that's a different story.
