  • "No-look! I was just foolin' Lennie. Cause I want you to stay with me."
  • "If you don' want me I can go off in the hills an' find a cave. I can go away anytime." 
  • Chapter 3 pg 69
  • "Make 'um let me alone George."
  • "Come on ya big bastard. Get up on your feet no big son of a bitch is gonna laugh at me, I'll show you who's yella."
  • "Get 'em Lennie!"
  • Chapter 6 pg 116
  • "Me an' you."
  • "You an' me. Ever'body gonna be nice to you. Ain't gonna be no more trouble."
  • The theme of this scene is to show the responsibility George feels over Lennie. George could have let Lennie go off into the cave but, he instead asked him to stay.
  • Gorege was helping Lennie to believe in himself. He was telling Lennie to fight back because he didn't want anybody to mess with him. 
  • George feels some sort of protection over Lennie. This scene reveals the respect George has for Lennie to keep him happy even before his last moments in life.
