Kazakhstan use to be know as Kazakh ASSR. After they developed independence they became know as Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic.
What's our name?
Kazakhstan has serious environment issues. Their air and water are both polluted by the Cold War radiation. Not a-lot of things can grown either because the soil has been damaged by salt deposits and eroded by wind.
We can't have this anymore because of the Cold war...
After the war Kazakstan inherited 1,410 nuclear warheads, plus Semipalatinsk nuclear weapon testing site. Getting their independence they removed and dismantled all Soviet weapons. They did this with the help of U.S. and Russia.
