Assignment for Computer Class

Storyboard Text

  • (Michael and Amanda are sitting next to each other in Computer Science class.)
  • “Hey, Amanda! Check out this awesome blog I published about how to beat the game, Call of Duty.”
  • “I put this up two weeks ago! Didn’t they give me credit?”
  • “No way! You didn’t write this! I saw this on “Game Informer” yesterday.”
  • “No...what kind of license?”
  • “Well, did you get a license?”
  • "A  Creative Commons license lets people build on or even make money off your work. Of course, they have to give you credit."
  • “What if I don’t want them to change my work?”
  • “What if I don’t want them to make money?”
  • “Well, if you don’t want them to make money from your work, you can get a NonCommercial license.”
  • “And if I just want them to license identically but give me credit?”
  • “You can get a license called No Derivs, which means they can redistribute  it but they can’t change it.”
  •  “Then go for a Share Alike license. That’s the best for sharing online.”
  • “Ah, thanks Amanda. Now I understand where I went wrong.”
  • “So these are basically copyright licenses?”
  • “Yup, and there’s three layers to them that make them lawyer-friendly, human-friendly, and machine-friendly. The readable by all these things.”
