I cannot go back to Corinth because I do not want to kill my father. I must go to Thebes.
You will kill your father.
Oedipus got mad.
Your moving too slow.
Oedipus killed his father.
The oracle told Oedipus that he was going to eventually kill his father. He decides to travel to Thebes.
On his journey to Thebes he met his father, who he thought was just an old man. His father poked him with a stick
This is dramatic irony because we know that Oedipus killed his father but he doesn't know that. We also know that his father wasn't in Corinth, his father was in Thebes making it Ironic that he travel to Thebes to not kill his father.
