The Songhai Empire took place from 1464-1591, but in the 1400's the empire was under the Mali Empire's rule,
The Songhai Empire was located in West Africa along the Niger River.

Then in 1464 Ali escaped and took control of a city named Gao and took over creating the began to conquer tradeing land such as Timbuktu and Djenne.

Mid-1500's the Songhai Empire began to fall because a civil war broke out and inertial strife. By 1591 the Moroccan Army invaded and took over Timbuktu and Gao, causing the empire to collapse.
