Montresor, you are not clever enough to understand this book
Rising Action #1
Hello Fortunato, I just got a barrel of what is supposed to be Amontillado. I will be willing to give you some if you come with me.
What? Amontillado? in the middle of all of the festivities? That can't be. I would do anything for you my friend
Rising Action #2
Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!
Stop it! I'm fine. Let us just keep on moving forward.
My friend, maybe we should turn back. I don't want to make you sicker. We can always come back for the Amontillado.
We are introduced to Montresor and Fortunato. Fortunato later insults Montresor and Montresor decided that he will eventually kill Fortunato.
What about the Amontillado
During the carnival, Montresor tricks Fortunato to come to his palace. He does so by mentioning that he had been given what is supposed to be Amontillado. Moreover, since Fortunato loves wine, he agreed to go to his house.
It is getting late Montresor, let us go.
Even though Montresor makes it sound as if he is truly worried. However, he is only trying to push Fortunato to come with him.
The turning point of the story is when Montresor chains Fortunato to the wall. Up to this point, Montresor was only pretending to like Fortunato. However, now he is showing who he really is.
You are right. The Amontillado
Fortunato still thinks that Montresor is playing with him and that this is all a bad joke.
Yes let us go
Yes for the love of God!
For the love of God, Montresor!
Montresor called Fortunato's name twice out of curiosity. He is making fun of him by saying, "Rest in peace" because he reached his main goal and he no longer cares
