The night of the living Certificate of Deposit (CD)

Oh no! I have run out of money for my monster! I only have $1,000; whatever shall I do!?!
Should I open a saving account? Should I risk the stock market?
What about a certificate of deposit (CD)? 'Tis a note from a commercial bank (like me!) that signifies a time deposit, with a term that generally ranges from 1 month to 5 years.
Though it has a fixed maturity date and interest rate, a CD has a higher return than a savings account. They are even insured by the FDIC up to $250,000 per individual, just like a checking or saving account!
Though I can't withdraw funds without an early withdrawal penalty, my money is making money for me--just by waiting!
Once the deposit has reached maturity, my large return will grant me enough to finish my diabolical creation!!
