The Aztecs were located in Mesoamerica. They were first though to be here in the 13th century. They would drive wood sticks into the lakebed and fill it with rock and dirt to make artificial land on the lake. The city that the Aztecs build was called Tenochtitlan, present day Mexico City. The white reperesents rocks and dirt.
The Aztecs built chinampas which were man-made islands that the Aztects grew crops on. For Tenochtitlan, this was the only way to grow crops.

Aquaducts were the only way to get fresh water to Tenochtitlan. This is because Tenochtitlan was built on a salt water lake, so they couldn't drink that water. That is why they built aquaducts, becasue without them, they would have to have people constaly carrying water into the city by hand.
The Aztecs dyed thing red using a tiny red beetles. These beetles were called cochineal beetles. The aztecs wereamong the first to discover this dye that dyed clothes a deep red.
The Aztecs Had their children educated very young about daily life skills. At age 12 all children would be required to attend school. Girls education ended at age 15, but boys from the age of 15 to 20 attended telpochcalli where they studied the millitary.
Jaguar warriors faught with wooden swords lined with obsidian. Jaguar warriors were the most respected warriors. To become a Jaguar warrior, you had to capture 12 enemies in two consecutive battles.
