Raised taxes?! I can't even pay for things as it is!
I know! It's ridiculous! I'm boycotting! I'm not buying anything from them!
Raised taxes?! I don't think so! I'm just going to smuggle goods!
Good idea! But I'm not letting anyone, officer or not, barge into my home and look through my stuff! That's plain rude.
As you wish, sir.
If raising the taxes results in smuggling I think it best to lower the taxes again.
The taxes were raised so Britan would get more money. This angered the colonists and they started boycotts.
They were also mad because they started smuggling goods and the officers were aloud to break into houses to look for smuggled goods. The colonists thought this was an invasion of privacy and a lot of times people were fasley accused of smuggling goods.
As a result of the smuggling and boycotting Britain decided to lower the taxes again and there was a proclamation that only the colonists own assemblies could tax them.
