  • Have you ever heard of cellular respiration? It occurs in every single heteroph (consumer)in the world!
  • Cellular respiration happens in the mitochondria of a cell . the reason the mitochondria is called the power house of the cell is because when cellular respiration occurs, it produces energy in the form of ATP.
  • When the reactants of oxygen and glucose come together to create the products carbon dioxide, water and ATP, they go through the process of the electron transport chain.
  • Everything we do in life takes energy, so cellular respiration is very important to all consumers.
  • Oxygen is one of the most vital reactants in cellular respiration.
  • Cellular respiration couldn't happen without it, which is why we call in an aerobic function.
