Japan started attack other countries like Korea, China, and Okinawa. They did this because they wanted the material these countries had, and colonized them along the way.

After repeatedly asking Japan to stop attacking the other nations, the U.S. froze Japan's assets, like steel and oil. This would hopefully prevent Japan from attacking the other nations.

On December 7th, 1941, Japan attacked a U.S. naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii unprovoked. They did this because they hoped it would prevent the U.S. from interfering with their military actions in Asia.
America Declared War on Japan
After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Japanese-Americans in Hawaii were relocated the Japanese-Internment camps. The Japanese-Americans had to stay there until the war was over.
F. D. R. gave a speech after the Pearl Harbor attack. He was also the one to order that the Japanese-Americans be relocated.
America declared war on Japan and joined WWII. After this, America even destroyed two Japanese cities with nuclear bombs.
