Storyboard Text

  • Title:
  • "The Most Dangerous Game"
  • Exposition: The story takes place around and on Ship-Trap Island. The story also has three main characters Whitney, Rainsford, and General Zaroff.
  • Conflict:
  • "'No General,' he said, 'I will not hunt.'" (Connell 73)
  • Rising Action:
  • "Three hundred yards from his hiding place he stopped near a dead tree that leaned precariously on a smaller, living one. Throwing off hisn sack of food, Rainsford took his knife from its sheath and began to work with all his energy." (Connell 76) "Then, as he stepped forward, his foot sank into the ooze. He tried to wrench it back, but the muck sucked viciously at his foot as if it were a giant leech. With a violent effort he tore his foot loose. He knew where he was now. Death Swamp and its quicksand." (Connell 77) "It was a distant sound, faint and wavering, but he knew it. It was the baying of a pack of hounds. Rainsford knew he could either stay and wait, which was suicide. Or he could flee." (Connell 78)
  • Climax:
  • "Twenty feet below him the sea rumbled and hissed. Rainsford hesitated. Then he leaped far out into the sea..." (Connell 80)
  • Falling Action:
  • "He could see the great hounds, and he called, 'Better luck another time' to them. Then he switched on the light." (Connell 80)
  • Resolution:
  • "The General sucked in his breath, 'I congratulate you,' he said.'You have won the game.' Rainsford did not smile. 'I am still a beast at bay,' he said in a low, hoarse voice.'Get ready General Zaroff.' The General gave one of his deepest bows." (Connell 80)
