  • We conquered the Latins and defeated the Etruscans taking all of Italy for our own.
  • The First Period of Expansion
  • The Second Period of Expansion
  • The growth of Rome impacted the city of Carthage in North America. From 264 to 146 B.C.E Rome and Carthage fought three major wars.
  • Rome came to rule the entire Mediterranean world. Rome took control of Asia,Syria,and Egypt. The Romans considered the Mediterranean "our sea".
  • The Third Period of Expansion
  • The Fourth Period of Expansion
  • This period began with the start of the empire. Augustus pushed the borders of the empire all the way to natural boundaries.
  • What was conquered?
  • The Romans conquered the Etruscans and many tribes near by. The Romans rebuilt their city and surrounded it with walls.
