1.The Falling action is when they want to return Johnny back to his house by writing a letter demanding money and for the return of Red Chief. 2. When Ebenezer writes back to Sam and Bill saying he will not pay the ransom but only take Johnny home if Bill and Same pay him $250.
The resolution is when Bill and Sam take Red Chief home, and flee to Canada.
The theme of The Ransom and Red Chief is, crime doesn't pay. In the text it states,"We'll take him home, pay the ransom and make our get-away." This shows that the theme is Crime doesn't pay because, they kidnapped Johnny because they thought he was rich. But they had to pay Dorset instead of Dorset paying Sam and Bill. Bill and Sam thought they would make a profit from kidnapping Johnny but they didn't.
