  • In 1845 more British arrive and start to colonise in New Zealand. The New Zealand Wars start. The Maori started the wars because they couldn't sell their land. The Treaty wasn't really working.
  • Battle of Gate Pa-Tauranga Wars- 1864
  • The Northern wars were the first wars that happened in the New Zealand Wars. Obviously, the Northern Wars were in the North Island. The Northern wars went from 1845-46. 94 Maori and 82 British soldiers died in this war.
  • Armed British Attack Te Nguti O Te Manu- 1868

  • On 17 March 1861, after an effective siege at Te Arei Pa, a truce was made between the British Army and Maori, bringing the North Taranaki war to an end.
  • End Of The New Zealand Wars- 1872
  • Gate Pa stood on a hill and was attacked by the British army in an attempt to dislodge the Maori soldiers. 31 British dies and 80 were wounded. 20 Maori were killed.
  • The results for the attack on Te Nguti O Te Manu were catastrophic! 28 Maori died and 24 British with 27 British severely injured.
  • The Horrific New Zealand Wars ended in 1872. 2990 died in total. That's 736 British and 2254 Maori.
