In the first chapter, Ralph is not worried. He knows that their plane crashed on an island, but he is confident that his dad is going to come to save them because he is a Commander in the Navy.
Piggy is very worried about being stranded on the island with no parents. He has asthma and is concerned about that. He also doesn't like it when people call him "Piggy", although that's how he was introduced to everyone.
Jack seems like he is used to being in charge, so when everyone votes for Ralph as chief, he is not happy. He is also very orderly and strict. He wants to get back home too, but he likes being able to explore the island. He is also in charge of the choir at his school, so he is telling them what to do while on the island.
