Ugh! I cant seem to understand what a synthesis is!
That's really easy, here let me explain!
I feel like I have a better understanding now, but how would you show that in a formula?
Alright, so a synthesis reaction is when two or more substances react to form a single substance. The products can be either an element or a compound.
I get it now! Thank you!
So, lets use sodium and chlorine, when you react them both together, it creates a compound called sodium chloride, also known as what we use today, table salt.
Na+Cl-> ? Na+Cl-> NaCl
When writing it out, you first write out what the reactants will be, which is sodium (Na) and chlorine (Cl) and since in the process of synthesis the substances react together,you would combine both together. And since one has a negative charge and the other has a positive, they cancel out perfectly!
